A spirited 2-1 defeat to Liverpool at the weekend halted Chelsea’s unbeaten Premier League (PL) run at four games (W2, D2). However, it marked their fourth league game in a row to produce over 2.5 total goals, see both teams score, and see Chelsea’s opposition on the day score exactly twice in one half.

In practice though, that means Chelsea are still winless in PL and Champions League games at Stamford Bridge this campaign. This is thanks to slow starts and nervy finishes on home turf, with a goal conceded in the first or final 15 minutes of their last two home league matches costing them a net total of three points.
Since the start of April, Brighton has made league visits to three of last season’s top four, losing every match ‘to-nil’ and conceding over 2.5 goals on average per-game across that trio of defeats.
Amongst that group of defeats was a 3-0 reverse here back in April. Said defeat marked the Seagulls’ second multiple-goal loss ‘to-nil’ in as many PL visits to Stamford Bridge, with each of Brighton’s prior PL trips to Chelsea seeing them lose the second half 2-0.

Players to watch: Chelsea starlet Mason Mount came close to equalizing at the weekend, but he remains the only man to score inside the first ten minutes of a PL game here this season.
Neal Maupay is the only man to score in the league for Brighton prior to the hour mark this season.
Stat attack: Even after the last round, league matches involving Chelsea are still averaging over 4.0 total goals-per-game.
None of the past three full seasons have seen Chelsea go four PL games winless at Stamford Bridge.
Brighton’s record as a PL away outsider since the start of 2018/19 stands at W4, D5, L12.
